FAQ - General Questions

Crowns are cemented onto the abraded surface of one’s own teeth or onto that of the inserted dental implants and provide an aesthetic denture that gives the patient back a sense of security – being able to chew properly again, speak and smile carefree.

Indirect restorations such as dental crowns and bridges are made in the in-house dental laboratory of our dental clinic, so we can guarantee an aesthetic, long-lasting, effective result.

In dentistry, a bridge is a denture that is made when one or more teeth are missing and the gaps can be “bridged” with a coherent construction. The adjacent healthy teeth must be ground down and crowned as bridge abutments. Not only neighboring teeth of a tooth gap but also dental implants serve as bridge pillars.

Dental crowns are used for teeth that are extensively damaged by caries, or for mechanical injuries when tooth substance has broken off, because the original tooth shape can be restored with the crown. If you don’t intervene, the teeth can no longer optimally fulfill their function, which can later lead to functional disorders in the jaw joint. If left untreated, tooth decay can attack the pulp of the tooth, teeth that are not cared for can cause inflammation of the gums or even a changed bite position.

Thanks to dental crowns, however, patients are once again able to chew, speak and laugh carefree – just like with their own teeth.

Dental crowns have proven themselves for many decades, so dentists carry out the preparation and bonding with great experience. With appropriate oral hygiene, the lifespan of a crown is 10-20 years. In addition, German statutory health insurance companies and private supplementary insurance companies pay fixed subsidies for dental crowns based on the findings.

When the crowns are made, the patients are involved in the choice of shape and color so that the individual dentures we make look as natural as possible.

A disadvantage, however, should be mentioned that during the preparation required for dental crowns and dental bridges, healthy tooth substance is also lost on the affected teeth so that the new dentures can be firmly anchored.

Dental crowns and dental bridges can be made of different materials: plastic (temporary), ceramic on a metal framework (ceramic facing crowns), composite of all-ceramic or zirconium oxide. The best solutions are metal-ceramic, all-porcelain and zirconium oxide, all of which have their advantages and disadvantages.

Metal-ceramic dentures are durable and inexpensive, but not particularly aesthetic; All-ceramic is characterized by its natural appearance, but is more expensive due to the manufacturing process; zirconium oxide is the non plus ultra in terms of quality, aesthetics, materiality and functionality.

The dental technicians need 3-5 days to make a 3-unit dental bridge, and 7-10 days for 10-15 units.

FAQ - Dental Implants

The loss of natural teeth has several reasons – but just as many consequences! One of them is the sad experience of having to say goodbye to our previous quality of life. Long-term studies have shown that a dental implant has a success rate of over 95%. Thanks to leading treatment methods, there are few risk factors. Before the dental implant is placed, the other teeth and gums must be in good order. Careful dental care and regular visits to the dentist are the guarantee for long-term success.
A secure feeling in all life situations!

If there is enough bone substance, the dental implant can be used at any age! Prerequisites for a successful dental implantation are primarily annual prophylaxis, ideal wound healing, a generally good state of health, with diabetes and smoking being significant risk factors. The following are still required: appropriate bone density, good bone quality and proper oral hygiene.
Our implant specialists will be happy to explain the possibilities to you and, if necessary, carry out everything from planning to implantation, as well as the annual recommended checks. It’s never too late to improve our quality of life!

FAQ - Dental Treatment

  • caries treatment
  • root canal treatment
  • in oral surgery, for bloodless cutting of soft tissue and for promoting bone regeneration
  • Gum formation in periodontitis
  • Curettage / deep cleaning
  • teeth whitening

Yes! During root canal treatment, the laser is primarily used to disinfect the root canal. Inflamed areas of the pulp can be removed with the laser, but the key advantage is that pathogens can also be killed in root canals that are difficult to access.

The laser light can be used to kill the bacteria in the root canals that cause periodontitis without introducing harmful drugs into the body. With this completely painless procedure, even the sources of germs nesting deep under the gums, which are responsible for the inflammation, can be eliminated.

Thanks to the laser, caries can be removed without drilling, without pain and without an anesthetic injection. This procedure is much more effective than the traditional method of treatment, but what is more important, it is more comfortable for the patient and completely stress-free.

The sensitivity of the tooth necks can be alleviated again by lasers.
